With 8.1 megapixel stills and a decent video resolution, this is a great all around camera. Thanks to some deep discounts we were able to afford one of these for our daughter, who is an avid swimmer. Worked great in the pool, as well as a “test run” in the bathtub.
Pros: Well built, Lithium Ion battery lasts a good long time, SD cards up to 8G, floats.
Cons: Only one so far – the tripod adapter screw is built too far into the base, so most tripods cannot be attached without adding an adapter.
Beyond that, if I were to nitpick: the door could be broken off with rough handling (time will tell), special shape and size of LI Ion battery needs a special charger, or the camera would need to be plugged into a USB port or the charger to recharge Would like to see AA batteries, but that would make the camera bulkier. Software that comes with would be better kept off your computer, using Picasa, VLC media player or some other software instead.
Summary: Great multi-environment camera that can be used anywhere, even up to 10 feet underwater.Vivitar Underwater Digital Video Recorder – Blue (DVR 850W-B)

Got all the way to the Bahamas only for this to not work at all. Sending it back now.

You get what you pay for, and in this case it means a really really crappy video camera. Will not film inside as everything will be super-dark. There is no lens cap, so our lens got cracked within a day or 2 of carrying it around in a backpack. Mic is poor and picks up all these crazy sounds (pops/clicks/squeaks) from handling the camera. Zoom destroys the resolution and everything is very blurry. All in all this is more of something to give a kid (to break!) to play with then something even remotely worth the money. Save your dinero and get something better than this camera. Waste of money.
